Easter and Back to Church Sunday

When we speak of reopening the church, we mean the renewal of in-person gatherings. For the past year our times together physically have been limited. We did not meet for Sunday worship except for a small number to record for five months. Over the last year we’ve missed pot lucks, fellowship meals, youth retreats, outings, children crusade, bus ministry and much more. Most painfully those unable to attend missed visitation, being hugged, told “I love you” in person, and holding a hand as loved ones died.

While we have learned much, the year has taken a huge toll. Life expectancy declined. Over 500,000 COVID 19 related deaths contributed to the death toll. Anxiety, decreased access to medical care, and loss of employment were worse than the disease. The greatest damage has been in the relationship of some with the Body of Christ.

Some have gotten used to not being in worship. Children are kept at home and parents forgetting the commitment made to God to raise their child as a disciple of Jesus Christ. Disciples gather for worship, study, fellowship and service. We meet on Sunday and other times for corporate praise and intercession.

If you are among those who say you do not need in-person worship look at the life of Jesus. He gathered in the synagogue with fellow believers and led prayer, teaching and service with the disciples. We worship to honor God. God is worthy of our praise. Worship is for others as well as ourselves.Let nothing hinder you from life in the Kingdom of God!!!

With the Love of Jesus Christ,

Brother David
