June 2021 Newsletter

This June marks one year since moving to Lucedale. To say this has been an unusual year for a move is an understatement. Most of us were not able to meet in-person for several months. Even after we were able to meet, many could not because of health or safety concerns.

I am thankful for the kickoff Sunday for renewal of full activities during the “Back-to-Church” Sunday. Almost 300 people participated in a time of worship, eating and fellowship. Wednesday, May 19th, was a special evening as we enjoyed corn dogs, desserts, popcorn and a movie. Children ran around, danced, spilled drinks and popcorn and jumped from one lap to another. Youth gathered and visited. Old and young conversed and lingered after the movie to clean up and visit.

Milestones such as graduation, football spring training and baseball renewed a more “normal” format. While we are not out of the woods with COVID, we are breathing some sigh of relief. Remember to give God thanks. We prayed for relief, sensible economic policies, perseverance and faith. God is faithful and good.

We’ve known a focused time of prayer and evaluation as a congregation. God has taught us much. We are not as in control of our lives as perhaps we once believed. Being together feeds our souls. Worshipping is not taken for granted. We should all look forward to participating in our Church Sacraments as we begin this next Conference year.

Yours in Christ,

Brother David
